Birth is a true ritual, during which we go through several states of consciousness, sometimes even equivalent to hypnosis.
A ballet of hormones comes into play, each having a crucial role to play in this vortex.
The medical world generally summarizes childbirth into three stages: active labor / delivery / expulsion of the placenta. This is a very, very, very brief summary of what it actually is! To tell the truth, it mostly describes what is concretely and physically visible.
But before, after, and during these phases, a panoply of hormonal, physiological, emotional changes and states of consciousness occur. "Holistic Stages of Childbirth," inspired by Whapio's holistic stages which I was told about during my birth attendant training, helps to recognize, welcome, and normalize these phases (both as a doula and as a birthing person).
This coloring illustration is a practical tool for expectant mothers, to help them prepare for childbirth, to immerse themselves in the vortex of birth.
It breaks down each holistic phase of labor, simplifying them, and explaining which hormones come into play, and what state of consciousness this implies. The illustration depicts these stages to allow for optimal visualization.
In the coloring version, I have added sunbeams, on which you can write whatever you wish, positive thoughts/mantras/etc.
Also useful for midwives, doulas, and other perinatal professionals to offer informative visualization and introspection tools to their clients.
